Marian Kent
Nightcrawler
Sidewalk
worm’s gratitude
for sun
following a rainstorm
must be short-lived
blistering
confusing
like the shudder
after flutter
inside
upon car door slam
outside
I felt I was drowning
flailing
bloated
floated
to the surface
warmed myself
belly to the sun
now you’re home
finding yourself
amongst worms
surfacing
inside your brain
and I’m parched
